About the Scotstoun Area

About the Area

The history of Scotstoun starts in the 13th century. There is an excellent historical account on this website.

Another remarkable resource is the ever-growing Scotstoun: The Early Years, an extensively researched document by local resident, Moira Logan, of the 651 households, streets and schools in the Scotstoun Conservation Area.

Moira welcomes hearing from anyone who has additional information about the area (moira.logan1@ntlworld.com).

The Scotstoun Conservation Area Residents Association (SCARA) has a website (www.scotstoun.info/) with good current information about the area, as well as a well-written semi-annual newletter, The Avenues, which also can be found on the website.

Old Scotstoun and Whiteinch by Sandra Malcolm is a pictorial book with lots of information about the area. Copies are available at Scotstoun Emporium.
